George Kleros is Senior Vice President of Advisory Services, LLC (JAS) at Jet Support Services, Inc. (JSSI), headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. He is responsible for operational oversight of all business aircraft appraisal, asset inspection, and maintenance event management products. Before managing JAS, George was Senior Vice President of the JSSI strategic event management and fleet support. He has been actively involved in business and general aviation in various capacities for more than 40 years.
George holds an FAA Powerplant and Airframe rating, which he received in 1987, and an Inspector Authorization in 1989. His aviation career began in 1984 at a regional airline, where he performed aircraft line maintenance. During his career, Mr. Kleros worked for several aircraft manufacturers, including Avco-Lycoming Textron in 1987, Bombardier in 1993, and Rolls-Royce North America in 2007.
Mr. Kleros has actively inspected, managed, evaluated, and assessed business aircraft and engines since 1998. Hisexperience covers aviation maintenance and support for piston and turboprop aircraft, specializing in turbojet aircraft. Mr. Kleros' extensive experience includes various positions, from mechanic to president of a maintenance company with three facilities that supported two flight schools, a charter operation, and a management company. He has also been responsible for retail maintenance activities and was Director of Maintenance for an Air Charter Part 135 operation.
Mr. Kleros has worked at JSSI in various capacities for over 25 years. He has managed and audited turbine-engine heavy maintenance, including over 300 documented engines and airframe events. He has formal training in Cessna, Learjet, and Gulfstream aircraft. Additionally, he has turbine and piston engine training for Lycoming, Pratt & Whitney, GE, and Rolls-Royce engines.
George currently serves on several industry organizations and boards, including the General Aircraft Manufacturers Association (GAMA) Airworthiness Maintenance Policy Committee in Washington, D.C., the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) AMS Board of Advisors in Daytona Beach, Florida, and the Westchester Aircraft Maintenance Association (WAMA) President /Board of Directors in White Plains, New York.
He is a frequent speaker at industry seminars and conferences. He has authored and published numerous articles and presentations about aircraft maintenance, preservation, and inspection programs. He has presented workshops on pre-purchase inspections, the value of aircraft as collateral, and the relative impact of aging aircraft and regulatory changes on business aircraft's market value. He routinely performs training for ASA Machine and Technology AS appraisers.
