Diego Garrigues
Diego has considerable aviation finance experience handling aircraft purchase and sale transactions for airlines, lenders, high net worth individuals and operators and project managing aircraft and fleet acquisitions from contract negotiation to delivery. He advises on ownership structures and has expertise in the negotiation and drafting of loan, lease and purchase agreements, security documentation and all ancillary documentation, including registration applications, legal opinions and conditions precedent for delivery, insurance and escrow arrangements. In addition, he has experience in employment and corporate law and commercial agreements, including airline operating and maintenance contracts.
Diego qualified as a Spanish Abogado in 2000 and as an English Solicitor in 2009. He trained and spent 5 years at Iberia, as legal counsel where he gained considerable experience with the airline in multijurisdictional litigation.
He managed a varied caseload on behalf of Iberia and gained extensive advocacy experience representing the airline in the Spanish Civil, Criminal and Mercantile Courts both at first instance and on appeal and involving passenger injury claims, EC261 delay and cancellation claims and criminal proceedings against passengers and crew. He was also involved in the response and management of several of the airline’s major incidents.
Diego’s litigation experience also extends to commercial dispute resolution acting for airlines, general aviation operators and owners.
Previously, Diego was a partner at Kennedys Law LLP and a Senior Associate at Gates and Partners LLP.
