Christopher Miller

Chris Miller serves as Managing Director – Aviation for Bay Point Advisors, leading the firm’s dedicated aviation finance vertical under the Shearwater Global Capital brand. This structure brings together the deep, asset-based aviation lending expertise Shearwater has built over more than a decade with Bay Point’s broader private credit platform — enabling the team to offer a wider spectrum of financing solutions, from pure asset-based transactions to credit-based structures, for borrowers across the globe.

Miller brings over 30 years of aviation industry experience to this role. He founded Shearwater Global Capital in 2014 to provide specialized asset-based lending to business aviation borrowers worldwide. Prior to Shearwater, he served as Managing Partner at JSSI Aviation Capital, where he delivered capital solutions for the business aviation sector with a focus on asset-based lending for medium to large business aircraft across global markets. Before that, he led Guggenheim Partners’ Business Aircraft Investment Group — subsequently acquired by Stonebriar Commercial Finance, now Eldridge Capital — where he focused on asset-based financing transactions across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.

Earlier in his career, Miller managed the U.S. division of a UK-based performance management consultancy, partnering with organizations of all sizes on strategy execution. Notable engagements included advising a private equity group on cargo flight operations in high-risk regions and supporting defense contractors responding to urgent requirements from U.S. military forces.

Before entering the business world, Miller served in the United States Marine Corps as an F/A-18 Hornet pilot, and held roles as an Aircraft Maintenance Officer and Aviation Safety Officer. He is a graduate of the U.S. Navy & Marine Corps School of Aviation Safety and holds a commercial pilot rating.

Miller is an accredited Senior Aircraft Appraiser with the American Society of Appraisers and has served as President of the National Aircraft Finance Association. He holds a B.A. from Denison University and an M.B.A. from Columbia University.
