Dear NAFA Members,
As you are well aware, business aviation once again came under fire recently. In light of President Obama's negative comments regarding business aviation, NBAA has launched a full-scale advocacy campaign on behalf of the industry.
We strongly encourage you, our members, to do the same.
To quote NAFA President Bob Howe, "It is clear from the President's disparaging words that we need to do a better job of educating the public and our elected officials about the importance to our communities and to the economy as a whole of a strong and vibrant General Aviation industry.
At a time when our industry is seriously struggling to recover, it is discouraging that the President chooses to vilify an industry that provides such a large number of manufacturing jobs and showcases American innovation through its vigorous export market."
Added NAFA ex-oficio Mary Schwartz, "I feel it is our responsibility to echo Ed Bolen's statements and show support for NBAA's efforts to respond to President Obama's statements. We in the General Aviation industry know how important general aviation is to the economy of the US. As stated by Mr. Bolen, it employs 1.2 million people and generates $150 billion in revenue each year."
Please show your support of business and general aviation by using NBAA's online Contact Congress resource to send a letter to Congress.
We at NAFA feel it is imperative that you get involved. It takes only minutes to sign and send the above referenced letter and show your support for this industry.

In addition, we encourage you all to consider taking the advice of NAFA member David Wyndham, VP and Co-Owner of Conklin & de Decker. In an email distributed July 7, he encourages not only the type of response coordinated by NBAA, NATA, AOPA and others, but also a more direct approach from individuals who utilize and benefit from business aircraft.
He states, "What I would like to see is business CEOs and owners get together with an open letter sent to the major news outlets describing the importance of aircraft in their ability to conduct business. It should come from small to medium businesses that use aircraft. Not the top mega-corporations, but those companies flying aircraft representing the other 85% of business aviation."

In conclusion, please take a few brief moments to consider what you can do to advocate on behalf of business and general aviation. Please forward this information on to colleagues and encourage them to act as well.
Sincerely,
Your NAFA Board of Directors
